Navigating my way to the Taranaki Daily News website this morning, I came across a front page article that looked familiar...

On taking a closer look, sure enough, it was all about the documentary that I was a cameraman for a few month ago.

UPDATE: Hiding Behind The Green Screen has been officially selected to screen at the Duke City Doc Fest 2010, in Albuquerque USA, and is in consideration of awards. TV1's Closeup did a review of it here.

Over the last month and a half I have been working with Auckland based television production company, Graeme Veitch Television, on there programme Toyota Grassroots Rugby. It has been quite an adventurous experience, along with fellow reporter Morris West, traveling to all edges of Taranaki to showcase our region the best we can on a national level. The first rugby game we covered was behind Yarrows Stadium, where Spotswood United took on Inglewood, ending in a 28-46 battle to Inglewood. Take a look below..

A few weeks later was the All Blacks match with Ireland, at Yarrows Stadium. As apart of the good will attitude towards kiwi kids, the All Blacks held a kids day, where they could meet and learn skills off the guys themselves. I went and hung out with Ferdie the Taranaki Rugby Mascot (Morris West) for most of the day, and captured a small essence of what was going on..

More reccently, there was a game out at Rahotu with Tukapa taking on Coastal. And the big battle itself at Yarrows Stadium with the Taranaki Senior Club Rugby final, where Tukapa took out the cup over New Plymouth Old Boys. The other day I decided to have a play with the iPhone application - iTimelapse. The way it works is by taking an image every 5-20secs then collating them all together into a movie, which gives you that timelapse effect. I setup my iPhone outside the front of our house, facing towards the sky, and came up with this little clip. I hope you like it.

So today I felt the need to go and take pictures of a lot of different stuff, and apply some cool effects to them - on my trusty ol' iPhone :)

I figured that it has been a little while since I last updated my blog. So I thought I better get onto a new post, to let all of my millions of followers out there know whats going on :)

Its been a productive few months for me. With the kick start of quite a few new projects. I tell ya, New Plymouth never stops with creative stuff!

Taranaki Times is one of these. A weekly email newsletter and video episode, highlighting anything and everything to do with arts, music and culture in Taranaki. So far we've been going for 2 months, and the response has been amazing. With stories on New Zealand renowned band 'The Black Seeds' right through to a All Blacks and Irish Rugby team special. At the beginning of last month i was asked to be a cameraman for a feature length documentary, Hiding Behind The Green Screen. It is the initiative of a local film-maker, Paora Joseph, focussing on the reality of living life under the influence of marijuana. It is currently under-going the last stages of post production, and is looking amazing. Following 4 young 18-25 year olds, and being filmed in various different locations around Taranaki, it explores the journey of where the addiction starts to where it could potentially, and in most cases lead you - prison. But with mixing with others that care and want to help, there is a much positive side and way of getting it out of your life.

I'll be sure to keep you updated, and let you know when it is available to watch. I can assure you, it is going to be a good watch.

On a more personal scale, i want to let you know there is going to be some changes around my websites and social media sites soon. With the hope that they will be a bit more user friendly, easy to navigate, and easier for you to see what i do. I'm in brainstorming mode, thinking how i can design and develop them but i always like hearing from other people. So let me know if you have any ideas.
